Rep. Subramanyam Statement on DHS Funding Vote

March 27, 2026

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Suhas Subramanyam (VA-10) released the following statement after voting no on the partisan Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding bill, that House Republicans brought to the floor instead of the bipartisan DHS funding bill that passed the Senate unanimously last night:

“This Republican shutdown should be over. Instead, House Republicans chose to ignore the voices of the American people and continue the pain by passing a bill that has no chance of ending this debacle. So TSA, FEMA and other federal workers and contractors will continue to not get paid. Americans will be less safe and face travel disruptions.

I am ready and willing to vote for a bipartisan solution that funds DHS and increases accountability for immigration enforcement.”
