Congressman Suhas Subramanyam Announces Nearly $800,000 in Funding for Airport in District 10
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Suhas Subramanyam unveiled nearly $800,000 dollars in federal funding coming to the Town of Leesburg’s airport because of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
The Town of Leesburg is receiving $341,477 to build a new parking area for planes at the airport which will allow for less traffic and aircraft congestion. The Town of Leesburg will also be receiving $430,000 to construct a control tower; Congressman Suhas Subramanyam’s predecessor, then-Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton, was critical in securing funding for a temporary control tower until the new one is constructed.
Congressman Subramanyam released the following statement:
“These investments are a major win for Leesburg and its airport, ensuring safer, more efficient skies. These critical upgrades are not only improving the airport's infrastructure, but also creating new opportunities for local businesses, supporting job growth, and strengthening our economy for the long term.”
A former Policy Advisor to President Barack Obama, Congressman Subramanyam served in the Virginia General Assembly since first getting elected in 2019. In Richmond, Subramanyam founded the bipartisan "Commonwealth Caucus” – a bipartisan group of legislators focused on finding common ground. He passed landmark legislation to lower toll costs for commuters, issue refunds to overcharged consumers, combat the rise in gun violence, and ensure all students have access to the best educational opportunities. He will continue to deliver real, bipartisan, results in Congress. Subramanyam served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT in Loudon. He lives in Ashburn, Virginia, with his wife, Miranda, and their two daughters, Maya (4) and Nina (3).
